I've been researching SLR cameras for almost a year now and finally settled on the Nikon D40. I purchased a kit that came with the standard 18-55 mm lens as well as a 55-22 mm VR Telephoto...kit lenses are probably not for a professional but I've been VERY happy with mine! Now I'm saving for a Macro - my fave! *Actual Birthday pictures to come later!

these cameras are AWESOME! I ask people if I can hold theirs if I see them. haha!! So far, they've all been really nice and said "sure"! hahahAAA Go you!! Happy Birthday!
