Top one for my cousin's baby girl on the way and the bottom for my sister's bridal gift. I'm kind of getting into the pieced backs - think I'll keep going with that. The back of the baby quilt was pretty cute - all white (I know not super practical for a baby but it was cute) whith one strip of the strips like on the front going horizontal instead of vertical.

In the last 13 days we have...

Driven approx. 26 hours,

and been on a plane for 10.5.

Changed time zones 4 times,

and slept in 6 different beds.

Been to 5 states.

Celebrated 4th of July and FIREWORKS!

Hosted a fish-fry for family.

Played at the beach.

Had the entire Petersen clan under one roof (it was a big roof!).

Caught LOTS of bugs!

Been to Lagoon & water park.

Fed the ducks.

Eaten lots of yummy food out,

and lots of yummy food in.

Done school shopping for Kali.

Floated a ditch in a canoe,

and played in the mud.

Milked a goat.

Caught a chicken.

Fed Horses and a baby calf.

Fought allergies,

and Croup.

Played games.

Visited a few fabric stores.

Missed a flight,

and didn't sleep enough!

Now we're home.

And we miss you all already!

Who knows when that will happen -

for now we're back to work!

White Quilt

    

I finished my "mostly white" quilt just in time for my mom for Mother's Day.  The fabrics were ones my grandma had cut up and stored in a shoe box.  After she died my mom didn't have the heart to toss them, so even though she doesn't like to sew she saved them.  Turns out I like to sew! :)  My mom remembers most all the fabrics; Easter dresses, school dresses, her dad's shirts, even the fabric my grandma used to make herself a dress to wear to my mom's wedding.  I used white muslin so the fabrics would really stand out and it washed up nice and crinkely, really adding to the vintage feel!  I loved working on this quilt and loved being able to give my mom something from both me and my grandma for Mother's Day.

One of my bestest friends had a baby boy a few weeks ago.  How fun to have another little friend for Kyle!

Easter

 

Yes, this is his 'picture' smile.  He's three, I'll take what I can get!

This was hilarious.  They're trying to pick up "their trail of treats" before Kyle could get them, and he's fast, ESPECIALLY if food is involve! Earlier in the week we had to call the paramedics because Kyle was choking.  Since they've seen first hand how scary that is they've been much more diligent in helping make sure their little things are up off the floor.

Kyle's Quilt

  

This was a fun experiment.  I quilted the top and the batting together on my own machine and then added the soft minky backing.  It's a small quilt so you can get away with it.  Pattern is called 'Simple Modern Baby Quilt' available at her etsy shop.  While the quilt itself is a rather easy pattern the document is like 33 pages of awesome directions, tips, and advice.  I'd highly recommend any patterns from her.
